I'm Laura Davies, a freelance artist and designer currently living in Ōtepoti - Dunedin, Aotearoa New Zealand.
I have been practicing art my whole life but began studying art seriously at age 14, in 2008. I fell in love with drawing and it developed into an obsession with growing my skills across multiple disciplines, mediums and styles. Starting with my brothers tiny drawing tablet and photoshop in '07, I've practiced digital art for over 15 years. I love making art just for art's sake, but I also love the process of developing art for real life applications and seeing it as a part of the world we interact with on a daily basis.
In 2014 I studied Communication Design for a year at Otago Polytechnic, where I took classes in graphic design, design fundamentals and fashion photography.
Between 2015 and 2021 worked as a freelance artist and designer, mostly taking smaller projects and working 1-1 with clients. These projects included creating EP covers, event posters, art & design services for web, cook book illustrations, personal portraits, traditional painting commissions, tattoo designs and marketing / promotional materials.

Varied involvement in the development of an animated TV series, Everybody's Got Their Demons. My role on this project began with vis-dev and asset development, then evolved into creative direction and managing a team of 10 people.

For the first half of 2023 I worked as a storyboard artist for James Redfoot productions, storyboarding a feature film.
